About this policy
This policy covers Cooking & Tracking 4 Gains for iPhone, iPad and Android, operated by DP Schmitz Holdings Ltd. Features depend on your installed version.
Information you enter
Your profile, nutrition targets, meals, macro values, weight entries, favorites, notes, selected food and progress photos, saved meals, meal plans and shopping-list progress are stored locally in the app's private storage. We do not operate an app account or developer-hosted synchronization service that receives this information.
Photos and scanning
Camera capture and photo selection are initiated by you. Food photos and nutrition-label/barcode images are processed on your device. Scanning does not send images or recognized label text to our servers or to Open Food Facts. Review the portion and nutrition values before saving; recognition and community data may be inaccurate.
iOS uses Apple's Vision framework. Android uses Google's bundled ML Kit text-recognition and barcode libraries. ML Kit sends device and app information, per-installation identifiers, performance and diagnostic metrics, API configuration, input/output sizes, feature events and error codes to Google over HTTPS for diagnostics and usage analytics. This is distinct from uploading the image content. See ML Kit terms and privacy and Google's ML Kit data disclosures.
Optional barcode lookup
When you choose Look up product, the app sends the product barcode to Open Food Facts. The service also receives your IP address and the app-identifying User-Agent as part of the network request. We do not send your account credentials, personal profile, body weight, diary history or photographs. Open Food Facts controls its own processing and retention under its privacy policy. Nutrition data is community-maintained and attributed under the Open Database License (ODbL).
Backups and exports
Depending on your Apple or Android device settings, the operating-system provider may include app data in device backups. You control these settings with Apple or Google. The app also lets you export a JSON backup of meals, notes, food photos, water, plans, saved meals, weights and favorites to a location you choose. These files can contain sensitive information: keep them in trusted storage. Exported copies and their retention are controlled by you and your chosen provider. Imports merge missing records and keep existing matching entries. Manual backups exclude purchases and tester access; they do not transfer paid access. iOS and Android use separate backup formats; automatic cross-platform sync is not offered.
Purchases
Apple StoreKit or Google Play Billing processes the one-time lifetime purchase and restoration under the store's terms and privacy policy. We do not receive or store payment-card details. The app reads store-supplied purchase and entitlement status to unlock or restore access. Purchase records are retained by Apple or Google under their policies; deleting app data does not delete a store transaction.
Advertising, sharing and tracking
We do not sell personal information or add advertising or cross-app advertising tracking. The iOS app has no third-party analytics SDK. Android's ML Kit diagnostic and usage collection is described above. Personal diary content is not sent to us; user-directed exports, optional barcode requests and platform services are described separately above.
Data retention and deletion
On-device data: Your records remain until you delete them. Delete individual diary entries in the app. On Android, open Settings > Apps > Cooking & Tracking 4 Gains > Storage & cache > Clear storage (wording varies). On iOS, delete the app from Settings > General > iPhone/iPad Storage to remove its local data; offloading is not the same as deleting data.
Backups and exported copies: Removing the app does not necessarily delete operating-system backups or exported files. Review or delete those copies in Apple/Google backup settings and in the storage locations you selected. Those providers control retention of their copies.
Developer retention: There is no remote app account or developer-held nutrition database to delete. If you contact support, we receive the message and any information or attachments you choose to send. For help deleting local data or to request deletion of support correspondence, email cooking4gains@schmitz.ca with the subject “Data Deletion Request.” We will respond within 30 days and delete support correspondence we control unless retention is required by law.
Service providers: Apple, Google and Open Food Facts control retention and deletion of information processed by their services under their respective policies. We cannot delete their records on your behalf.
Children and health information
The app is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. It provides general cooking, meal-planning and nutrition-tracking tools, not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Consult a qualified professional about medical or dietary concerns.
Contact and changes
Updates to this policy will be posted at this address with a revised effective date.
